Review: RTS Deluxe Class Bumblebee

Hello everybody,

It's the Geek here this time to bring you a review of the new Deluxe Class Bumblebee part of the second wave of Reveal the Shield.
This version of Bumblebee uses the Classics mold that still holds up after several uses and being 4 years old. His vehicle mode takes cues from several real world models that help make it look like a cross between Animated Bumblebee and a little G1 Bumblebee. The from has a silver grill with translucent blue headlights and windshield and an engine vent molded in. The color is predominately gold plastic inspired by the Movie Bumblebee, with two black stripes running from the hood to the rear windshield. The only molded interior of the car are the silver seats that turn into leg armor in robot mode

On the roof is the rub sign which shockingly shows that Bumblebee is an Autobot. Also another view of how far back the stripes go.

The rims use the same silver paint used for the grill. Bumblebee has an accessory which is his "Wave Crusher" which is a jet ski on a trailer for vehicle mode. His smaller side windows are made out of the same plastic for the windshield and the head lights. Molding is pretty flat except for the door handle molding and some curves and lines on the door.
Bumblebee has red painted tail lights and a solid black panel for his trailer hitch and license plate. His rear window also uses the same plastic as the other windows.
In Robot mode Bumblebee looks like a modern G1 Bumblebee, which he is suppose to be. His chest is the roof of the car with the rub sign front and center. Amusingly the stripes from vehicle mode turn into suspenders in Robot mode. All he needs is a fez and bow tie and we have 11th doctor Bumblebee. Bumblebee also uses the front half of the car for his feet which practically give him functional roller skates. The seats from vehicle mode fold down onto his thighs to give him nice silver thighs. His paint scheme is black plastic body parts with gold armor bits.
Up-close Bumblebee has a great head sculpt that is a perfect replica of his G1 model. His face is a nice silver paint with metallic blue eyes the go great with the blue highlights on his backpack piece and head vent. The face is modeled into a nice laughing smile which is a perfect fit for Bumblebee.
What molded detail that was missing from vehicle mode is more than made up for in the hydraulics on his lefs and arms.
The back is really nothing special just the rear of the car except for a special notch hole in the middle of his backpack which works with this "Wave Crusher".
The wave crusher is nicely detailed with silver rims and a black seat with a silver highlight to the back of the seat.
The main point of the "Wave Crusher" is to be a jet pack for Bumblebee's robot mode.
The jet pack is simple the trailer part spread out to form wings with the wheels acting as turbines. While it is a simple accessory It is a perfect fit for this Bumblebee and helps the look out a-lot.
Articulation wise Bumblebee is good. He has 11 point of articulation. His head is on a ball joint which helps for very emotive poses. His shoulders are ball joints that offer a wide range of motion with his elbows also being ball joints. Bumblebee also has ball jointed hips and hinge knees that rotate about 20 degrees forward and 110 degrees back. His feet also rotate forward and back due to transformation.

Figure Wrap-Up: Bumblebee i a great figure with great articulation and a great accessory. However it looses some points because his legs have to be perfect in order for there be be no panel breaks in vehicle mode, even when they are there are still slight breaks. As well they still don't give G1 Bumblebee a gun........so he'll just have to stick to scouting and leave the fighting to Cliffjumper. For this i give Bumblebee 9.8 wumbos out of 10.
